Twitter had just released a BETA version of its lists features. The lists feature allow you to add list of contacts and label it (as a “group” of individual accounts), each list can be public or private. It is a certain way of filter information by certain users.

Prepare for the twitter listed rush

So where will you find it?

The lists replaces the summary Tweets count to be a “listed” count – pushing users to wanna be listed on various lists, it is like expanding the rush to be followed to the rush to be listed.
Above the Trending Topics you get your Lists and it allows users to follow a list (group of individuals).

twitter lists - what to do with it

What can i do with it?

It is a fun exciting tool that initially will create a spin for users to list and be listed, some interesting implementation that will be probably showing soon:

Work / Knowledge Group – Grouping user as business group, employees or just by knowledge like “experts”.

Selection Group – Very soon we will be see this feature playing a role of ranking for example,a list of top leading brands, top social media innovators, top beta sites etc.

Tweeters Categorization – Finally fix your mess by categorizing the twitters to a cooresponding sections as; events, news, providers. etc.

Corporation & Departments - large orgainzations that currently use twitter account for each department product, will do good to group all back into specific lists, so those individuals will take part of the big boss.

The list page has a special page, i so believe that soon twitter will allow to custom this page similar to a standard user page. right now customization is minimum; list name & public/private flag.

follow my lists; @ikd#lists

I believe it is one of the twitter effort to reorganize ones information, the twitter boom had created a overcrowd of information. That important tweets are suddenly slip your eyes due to the large number of users you follow. this in feature let you organize your twitters. but i think it we are only half way there, the next step will be categorizing or grouping lists the tweets.
