We have just returned from a seminar at the Nokia Forum Code Camp and it was very successful! The code camp was focused around new technologies relating to Nokia such as creating widgets and applications for mobile phones. This technology was familiar to yalla ya! because of its similarities to web 2.0 technologies. only instead, the focus was adapted to mobile application development.

During the seminar Nokia presented their new SDK version of the WRT 1.1 a verions of the WRT 1.1 that allows interaction with the phone system and data. Additionally, Nokia reserved some time to a coding competition giving us the opportunity to participate and win two Nokia E71 phones. We decided on the spot to participate.

As experienced web developers, yalla ya! easily adapted to the technology demands of the competition and developed a Widget Application: MyIM – a mobile application that allows the user to login to their Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! or Gmail accounts and import buddy lists to the phone’s address book.

As a result of our success with this widget and the competition at the code camp, yalla ya! and Nokia are examining some new relationships and opportuinites.
